The Story

The sellers being local residents with backgrounds in bio friendly fuels share a vision; they feel that our planet is in need of being fully self sustainable and that our communities in the US and abroad need to move quickly to develop the necessary technologies for this transition. They have spent much time doing the research to bring some of the emerging Green technology to Santa Barbara.

This wonderful property has the potential to be fully self sustaining with 3 Solar Systems, underground water collection and dispensing system, and Hybrid Electric car chargers, just to name a few. Altering the general perception that Green building is modest and plain was crucially important, so the sellers built a gorgeous Estate incomparable to anything ever seen in Santa Barbara. The home is grand yet warm, comfortable yet hip, and its open and flowing design allows California sunshine with peeks of beautiful Oak trees to cascade into nearly each and every room.

Through the threshold you will find not only “the wave of the future” with the home's technical and cutting edge Green bells and whistles, but also a visual candy shop with fine marbles and granites, Sustainable Guatemalan Mahogany doors and finishes throughout, vintage style crystal chandeliers, and soft sultry rounded hallways and windows everywhere you look. Clean lines and rich woods, soaring ceilings, natural light, and glass doors in nearly every room make this a truly spectacular home.

2084 East Valley Road is a prototype of Green luxury living showing every admirer that a Green home doesn't need to be modest and plain. Elegance and beauty surround this top-of-the-line Estate, making it as stunning as it is unique.

The Project

John Krablin: Builder, Krablin Enterprises

At the helm of the project is builder John Krablin of Krablin Enterprises. John was able to quickly assess the Grimm’s vision and carried out the build of 2084 East Valley Road with impeccably high standards of construction and detail…the product speaks for itself! John Krablin has been building and developing in Southern California for over 25 years. Raised in Kansas, he worked with his father and brother for over 15 years creating high-end custom housing developments. Seeking a warmer climate, John moved to California and established Krablin Enterprises, building his company on the same principles of quality and integrity that had brought him success in Kansas. His business was initially centered in the Los Angeles area, where John worked with world class designers, architects, and engineers building custom residences throughout Bel Air, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, and Malibu. After 15 years of travel to LA, John refocused his work in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, continuing to build and develop custom homes.

John’s attention to detail, flair for design, and emphasis on quality are evident in all his projects. Now recognized as a premier “green” construction specialists, John will continue to build homes that are environmentally friendly while maintaining the same high standard of design and construction for which he is known.

Michael Stroh: Architect

Michael Stroh has been designing custom homes throughout the Santa Barbara area for the past seven years. He received his education at Arizona State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design. After working on a variety of commercial, retail, and industrial projects throughout the western United States, Michael moved to Santa Barbara in 2003 to focus on high-end single family homes. After working for several local architects, Michael established his own practice in 2006. Michael’s practice has grown to include sustainable projects encompassing not only with residential projects, but commercial and industrial projects as well.

Michael’s architectural focus is quality planning, precise details, and efficient design. Natural light, clean lines, simple detailing and quality materials form the basis for his designs. The 2084 East Valley project provided an excellent opportunity to adapt the seller’s unique vision in tandem with Michaels work.

The combination of the dedicated team effort to create a product which would be both elegant but also maximizing energy and utility efficiency was paramount to the success of this project.
